I recently stumbled upon some old pics that got lost in the shuffle. They were taken a long time ago with a panasonic lumix FZ50 point and shoot megazoom camera before I owned a DSLR.

Megazooms are a good option for those wanting to get their feet wet in photography without spending the $ for a DSLR. I think I bought my lumix for 300 dollars back in the day because I did not want to make a big investment in a DSLR before I knew if it was something I wanted to do. It was worth every penny; it offered a wide zoom range and a few basic shooting modes such as manual, aperture priority, and shutter priority which allowed me to start playing with the different settings when taking pictures.
