Well Colorado was fun, but so is sight-fishing for Redfish. It was a great day to be back in the Yak..I love the Coast...Minus the Strong Winds blowing me all over the place! The fish were there though and the DOA Shrimp did the trick. Managed several nice Reds...some decorated with many spots. A few small trout in the morning on skitterwalks. Have a great week all!

Are you using a loop knot with the DOA? Do you just slowly reel em back in or are you doing the ole twitch and reel twitch and reel? I have been trying to master the DOA shrimp and have had some good results but still not as good as I would like.

Thanks guys...Scott: No Loop Knot, and I don't cast untill I see the fish. Just put the shrimp in his path and stightly pull it away from him when he gets next to it. Deeper water blind casting Ill use a slow pull and wind down. Every know and then pop it but only in deeper water. Jerky retrieves in shallow water only scare the fish. But just do what works for you and what you have confidence in...DOA Shrimp= SLOW presentaion.

I too have not had any luck with a DOA. When you say "sight-fishing" is that kinda like hunting for reds...paddle around until you see them tailing then boom....you get cha one. That is how I landed my fist ever slot red. Couldn't believe it. Still new here...but am loving it!

Hey, a Cobra man!!!! My fav fishing hat is a black Cobra golf cap, and I play the new S2 driver. :salute:

Since you fly fish in Colorado, do you ever fly fish for those reds? If so, what patterns do you have success with?

Durpster...I do a bit of Fly fishing for the Reds. My favorite in the shallows is a Redfish Toad in a rootbeer or dark color. Clousers work just fine as well especially with all the shrimp in the creeks.

Clousers, eh? I'll make sure I have some in the box next time I'm in Florida. Any particular color?

And I'm going to try tying a few Toads. Here's something I found on the net that looks helpful:
