Well I decided to finally pick up a yak, A Perception Pescador 12.5. It came pretty well rigged as is out of the store. So I decided to take the yak out this a.m. to get some slime but mostly see how it preformed and I was very impressed. I launched at Cedar Point ramp about at 7:30 and third cast caught this little dude

Then his twin Brother.

Proceeded to catch 4 more with a total of 6 trout and missed 3 more strikes on a white and red Top Pup.

That is a great first outing and a nicely set up ride you have there. Nice job working the topwater. That is my favorite way to fish when I can coax them to hit. Great job!

The only problem now is that you have no excuses. 1st slime was on topwaters also, very nice.

Hey Flatliner!!
Dang good Maiden Voyage, and ya got her slimed on the first trip....Congrats!!!

Looks nicely rigged for you also....

Congrats on the morning topwater bite on those trout...that is fun stuff!!
Ya dun good!!!
JohnYaksJax

PS: Just a thought...In your 5th picture, you might want to be more careful about trout, or any fish, lying there between your ankles with a mouthful of treble hooks and little/no restraint!!! :pale:
Could be a very painful lesson.....JYJ

Nice looking rig. Nothing like getting that first slime out of the way. From the looks of that rig you are primed for some great fishing.

Wow didn't expect so many replies but thanks for all the kind words. The kayak is awesome I can't wait to get another day to take it out. Early morning top waters also one of my favorite times. Oh and right before I took that picture the trout had just about hooked my leg so I'll be a little more careful from now on. But again thanks for the greetings and get out there and fish!

Hey FlatLiner....Hope that I was not overly critical, but that was the "voice of experience" speaking!! Been there & done that, and it was not much fun either time!!

Safest thing probably is to put your feet/ankles up on the gunnels or over the sides, and even better yet, get one of those plastic floating Lip Grippers for $12-15 and tether it to the yak, remove that lure, and take all the pix you want!! (Yours were very good BTW!!)

Again, great first trip....we are looking forward to your next Fishing Report with some redfish and/or flounder pix on it....Congrats....JohnYaksJax
