I will be trying some surf fishing from Vilano Beach, just north of the A1A bridge Saturday. I do not have the long surf rods but some medium duty rods, I think 6'5" long and matching spinning reels.

Any suggestions for bait and presentation? I have seen several comment on spoons, dead shrimp is of course an option. Just looking for ideas. Haven't surf fished in years.

Thanks guys

I fish there often, fresh dead shrimp is key and if you have a heavyer set-up throw out a whole or half dead mullet, the messyer and bigger the better, and hang on.

I have caught everthing from giant Jacks, Rays, Sharks, reds ect, those bloody mullet work. I dont care if I can take it home as long as I look cool bringing it to the beach.

Go to Walmart and buy a $20 Shakespear surf rod. I bought on 5 yrs ago and it still works like new. Just have to clean and service like any other rod/reel. Think mine is like 12 or 13'.
