First you go to Home Depot and spend $1.98 on this...

Then you break off a blob, place it on a somewhat level place in your hull and push your transducer down into it...

That's it, you're done. And you get this...

Note: I did try this on my dorado's fiberglass hull with my new Garmin 140 ff and only got spotty results with it. I know another guy tried it on his kevlar hull and it worked just like it did on my P140 trylon hull. So I don't know if it's the fiberglass, the putty, or the Garmin transducer. I do know it worked like a charm first thing with my Eagle FishEasy 240 on my P140 trylon hull.

Bill, Is the transducer shooting through the Duct Seal?

is that stuff water resistant? Looks like a easy way to do it.

Yep, I did push it down hard to get the transducer as close to the hull as possible. In my testing before I put it down on the hull I put some of the putty on the transducer and just stuck it in the water that way and it worked just fine.

BNZ,
have you tried mounting the transducer in the Dorado again? That's my next project and not really sure how I want to install it.
I know how I'm going to mount the Humminbird 160 though...I need to install a Scotty Round Fush Mount towards the front of the fishbox lid, then I'm just going to install my Scotty system off the Prowler 13-

.....should work just fine! :thumbright:

Greg,

I used goop on the dorado. It worked just fine as I had a hard time getting the signal with the putty. I had no problems with the putty on my P140s and P160. Dorado fishfinder install

I will more than likely try the putty again on my marlin when it arrives. If I don't get it to work smoothly on the first try I'll just goop that transducer down as well. I will be using my "no holes" magnet install for the fishfinder with the marlin too. :thumbleft:

Does that duct seal harden up or will the transducer vibrate?

Doesn't harden, read the package. :) As for vibration I'm still waiting to see how traveling with the yaks upside down on my trailer do.

You'll find it on the electronics aisle. If you don't, go up to the front desk and ask them to help you find the Gardner Bender Duct Seal DS-110.

Pretty smart Bill! How do you like that Eagle? I'll never buy another Humminbird. Can you say piece of crap?

I'm thinking maybe if you start by building up the Duct Seal dam, and apply a thick coat of Vaseline to the hull before jamming the transducer into it, you may get better reception? :salute:
