The Nickelite rods are no longer made. However, they are one of the best rods I have ever fished with. I have three of them. If I needed another rod I would pick up one of these in a second.

I did the same thing yesterday, 2 spinning rods and a caster. Might order a second casting rod today!

couple of questions....why is the Nickelite rod no longer made? Does anyone know?

And does anyone know if the squid "lure" at the top in the Tackle Direct banner/logo is really a lure?

Thanks a lot in advance

Dani

Dani, I didn't look but it sounds like you're talking about the Shimano Lucanus jig. It's for deep sea fishing.

I got the light and the medium spinning rods and then the medium casting. You could get a nice lightweight setup for cheep right now by going with the light spinning rod and getting the Cabo 20 on cabelas right now that is half off in the bargain cave.

I'm pairing a medium nicklelite 10-17lb with a Shimano Baitrunner D 4000 and spooling with 30lb suffix braid... not sure if I should downsize the braid to 20lb or get the heavy rod 15-25lb range

No problem, I received mine yesterday as well. I paired the 10-17 test spinning rod with a fin nor ahab 8 spooled with 20 lb PP and the light spinning rod with a cabo 20 spooled with 10 lb PP. I haven't decided what to pair the casting rod with. Need to wait for the next paycheck!
