I found out the hard way while fishing Dutton Island Preserve. I was backed into the mud and saw this Shrimp chasing stuff in about a foot of water. I decided to try to grab it and maybe splash it out of the water to use for bait. I really don't know what I was thinking...As soon as I put my hand in the water it did not run away. It came after my hand and lit me up good. I pulled my hand out of the water only to discover two nice slices on my index finger. I knew what they were at the time I just didn't think they were that fast. It was so fast i didn't even have a chance to get my hand out of the water as it was coming towards it...Needless to say I learned the lesson about Mantis shrimp the hard way. Don't play with them or tease them Nature will strike back!!!

Learn about your prey before they attack, my mate Paul had a similar issue with Catfish a few weeks ago

(added to my previous post).....I once saw a Mantis Shrimp beat the hell out of a medium sized crab by knocking it on the head and killing it!

I watched the Mantis move towards the crab...and then wait in the sand. When the crab came closer.....B A M !!! It only took O N E hit and the crab was lifeless!

Simply Amazing

You guys are the reason I read these posts. :) Being a transplant from Atlanta I am not familiar with all the dangers of the sea. :? I would have picked that guy up and been posting ,with one hand, my experience. :pukeleft:
I am now a bit smarter than I was 10 minutes ago. :thumbright:
Thanks
