Sheltered Sea, a film about commercial fishing, ocean preserves, and how they can help one another, will be shown at the Wild and Scenic Film Festival on April 16, 2010.

Join your fellow film-buffs and environmental enthusiasts at the “Wild and Scenic Environmental Film Festival,” on April 16th, 6:00 pm at the Atlantic Theatres (now the Vineyard church) just off Atlantic Boulevard next to Publix.
Sponsored by the Public Trust Environmental Legal Institute of Florida, the hosts expect a night of films, food, and fun as community members join together to celebrate the wild and scenic environment of Northeast Florida and learn a little bit about what each one of us can do to protect it.
The Wild and Scenic Environmental Film Festival is the largest environmental film festival in the country and sits apart from the hundreds of others by leaving the audience feeling inspired and motivated to make a difference in their community.
The festival is comprised of one feature-length film and four other short films covering such provocative topics as deforestation, water use, wilderness preservation, and citizen activism. The night’s feature film, “Fuel,” won the audience award for best documentary at the Sundance Film Festival. “Fuel” engages the audience in a discussion about oil addiction, its effects on our environment and what we can do to break our dependence on it.
Food and alcohol will be served as live music from Shoofly will entertain when the doors open at 6:00pm, the films will start at 6:35pm. Immediately preceding the feature film audience members will have a chance to win prizes ranging from skateboards to a night out for two, and a discussion with fellow community members led by the Public Trust will enable everyone to comment on how they feel each issue affects Jacksonville as a community.
Single admission is $10 and family admission is $30, cash or check only. Tickets are available for pre-purchase now by calling the Public Trust at (904) 247-1972 ext. 418. Seating is limited but all remaining tickets will be available for purchase at the theater the night of the event. The Public Trust welcomes co-sponsors for the event, please call for more information.
