Right after noon today Kate and I were heading home from Palm Coast to Palatka. We were passing through Flagler Estates as always going the back way. We had just turned onto Black Creek Road west and were coming up on that first tight curve. A small green car passed us moving way too fast and I even commented to Kate "must be kids". Then the worst happened the car hit the curve on the rain slick pavement, fish tailed and hit the edge of the grass flipping over and traveling down the deep road side ditch. It stopped upside down pinned in the ditch 2 feet below the road bed, thank God there was not fire. Kate started dialing 911 and other folks were stopping. I got to the car and pounded on what I could calling out. A young voice answered so I went after getting to her. No glass was available to break since the car was pinned in the muddy ditch slightly nose first. I went into the trunk and tore through into the passenger compartment. I could see her and talk to her but the space was too small bring her through. Thank goodness other folks stopped because three of us were able to force open the passenger side by moving the car a bit in the slick mud. EMTs and Sheriffs arrived after we got the young lady out. She was OK BECAUSE SHE HAD ON THE SEAT BELT!!!!! That was one of the first things she talked about was the dirt and mud coming through the broken windshield right were her head would have been without it. The only reason she is not in the hospital or worse is that belt!!

Good for you. i have witnessed a few deaths due to a simple thing like failing to wear the belt.

Do it.

Things like this happen everyday and hundreds of people die just because they either forgot to put it on or thought " It wont happen to me." That young lady should really thank whoever instilled in her head to wear her seat belt. This serves as a good lesson to anyone who does not wear their seat belt. Jeff your voice probably sounded like the voice of an angel to that girl. Good thing you and those other people were there to get her out!!
