Well we had a short 2 hour fishing window between basketball and church today so we took it. Sarah, my 11 year old, had been asking to go fishing and paddle her own kayak for awhile and the water and weather were just too good to pass up. It was a little risky considering my luck as of late, skunked the last 2 trips for the first time in over a year :? .

Things started off slow in our little creek off Heckshear but picked up a little as the tide moved out. Sarah started with the obligatory stingray  , before she caught her first Redfish that was just under slot. She followed up with several nice trout. Although I let Sarah do almost all the catching I did catch a nice 21" trout to chase the skunk away from my yak before the Forgotten Coast Tourney next weekend. All in all it was a great first solo yak fishing trip fro my 11 year old. She handled the paddling and fishing really well and I was very proud of her. Most of today's fish were caught on live shrimp with a couple on the Mirrodine.

WTG Sarah! That is some outstanding fishing for such a short window! Looks like you've got yourself a great guide, too!
I love taking my daughter Sarah (aka Guppy) fishing. She just turned 12 and is fishing the Kayak Classic with me.
