My son and I hit Kayak Amelia this morning about 10:30. First hour and half we tried everything and nothing was interested. The wind was blowing like crazy. We tried gulp, jerkbaits, spinners, dead shrimp.... We resorted to catching the "junk" fish. After about an hour and a half, the black drum bite turned on. We probably caught 6 fish in 15 minutes. 3 were keepers. One was over 3 pounds. Then just as quickly it turned off for the next two hours. Then like a switch it was back on again. 6 more keeper drum over the next 2 hours.

Final count for the day, 17 black drum, 3 reds, 20+ bait stealing trash fish.

Ended up bringing home 9 keeper drum. Weighed the string at 20lbs 4oz.

Great day on the water! :thumbleft:

Very nice

Is it true that if you marinate the black drum in buttermilk it really helps out during cooking and the flavor?

Thanks
BGF
