Obama administration will accept no more public input for federal fishery strategy
Read it and weep
http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/salt ... id=4975762

"angling advocates have come to suspect that public input into the process was a charade from the beginning."

Guess I better saving my money cause I'm either going to have a lot of "fishing tickets" or a real big lawyer bill..

I guess I will sell my truck and Kayaks and buy me Hooptie and stand on a good corner and start slinging some dope, because with all the problems we face they seem more interested in what the everyday hard working man does then
some of the bigger problems that we face :pottytrain2:

This process was started long before he became president. Check your facts.

process may have started long before that idiot, but he's certainly the one that the "go gooders" hope will put the icing on the cake and light the candle! Now that's "Change that you can BELIEVE in"

Let's please stick to the topic and not rehash the election.

Our Senator Lemieux was doing his best - I actually wish he'd run because he has done quite well representing fishermen. Stay active and keep banging on all the doors whether they want to hear it or not.

philip with all due respect it IS happening. If you haven't noticed they have closed Snapper and Grouper fishing and essentially put charter boats that do deep sea fishing in the Atlantic out of business as well as taken away the liberty of fishing for recreational and commercial anglers alike. To make things worse they are closing entire regions of the Atlantic not only by species, but close them COMPLETELY for NO BOTTOM FISHING because they don't want you to unintentionally catch a snapper or grouper as a bycatch.

If you think this is all they will do and that waters closer to shore aren't next, or inshore waters, you are very mistaken.

All of this stems from the Magnuson Stevens act which requires these actions if "overfishing" is determined to be present and this is in ALL WATERS NOT JUST OFFSHORE. The issue everyone that disagrees with the Fisheries Management folks doing this is that there is absolutely no real science behind the determination of "overfishing". Commercial and recreational anglers don't want to see all the stocks wiped out, but the activists behind this legislation are painting that picture and succeeding with incremental propagandist tactics.

By the way land fisherman in the state of Florida DO need a fishing license now. And while Magnuson Stevens takes away our rights to fish it does nothing to deter other countries from fishing in these waters.

There is a large difference between preservationist and a conservationist. We as conservationist want to protect things for the future while still enjoying them. The preservationist do not want man to interfer in nature in any way.

This is getting scarier and scarier every day. Our only hope is that we can get as organized as our enemies - Make no mistake, these people are our enemies. It was all weird and goofy when we read posts before about "sea kittens", but these people are dead serious and they are working every day to take away our rights.
There is no middle ground with these people, they see no difference between the life of your baby daughter and a stingray, and they will fight to make sure that everyone is forced to live under the constraints of their odd view of life. If they have their way, everyone will eat only sprouts and tofu, we will all have to let our pets roam free, and women will no longer shave their legs. Now is that a world we want to live in?
Seriously, what do we do to get organized? How do we reach our "leaders" in Washington, to make them listen. Of course everyone knows that decisions in DC are all made based on which group makes the biggest contribution to the upcoming campaign. How do we compete with the propaganda machine aligned against us? :study:

Does anyone know what is happening for real? The ESPN article seems like fear mongering, not a lot of evidence or facts to back up the authors statements.

I should have clarified. Im referring to the claim that "Obama is going to ban fishing". It seems pretty hard to believe.
