Sorry but I have to chime in on this one. Watched a video of the lady with the Lexus that went 100+ for something like 4 miles before it finally stopped. She said, and I paraphrase "After the car accelerated to over 100 miles an hour, I tried to hit the brakes and NOTHING HAPPENED (?!). I then shifted it into EVERY AVAILABLE GEAR INCLUDING REVERSE, AND STILL NOTHING HAPPENED. I then tried to turn the ignition off, and still, NOTHING HAPPENED. I picked up my cell phone and called my husband to say goodbye because I thought I was going to die." And it goes on about how she finally was able to come to a stop in the median...
Here's my issue:
1. She claims she pulled the E-Brake and nothing happened. Bull $hit. E-Brake is mechanical, not electrical. ON EVERY CAR EVER MADE!
2. She said she shifted into every gear, even reverse. Bull $hit. Reverse lockout switches are MECHANICAL, not electrical. ON EVERY CAR EVER MADE!
3. She tried to turn the ignition off and nothing happened. OK, this I can actually see. It is an electrical system, and I have been in vehicles which still run if you turn the ignition switch off. But most of these cars were older and in some form of disrepair.
So in my eyes, 2 out her her 3 claims are pretty much impossible because of the fact that the systems she said she tried to use to stop are mechanical and not electrical. I will admit that Toyota has some issues with their electrical problems, but E-brakes and shifting into REVERSE AT 100+ MPH should have absolute effects because they are fail-safes. That's why it's called an EMERGENCY BRAKE! OK end of my rant... Thanks for playing.
