 Post subject: reel repair man?

a while ago my friend dropped his reel in the surf and it got filled with sand. my dad is really good at fixing reels but got a new job and moved out of town halfway through fixing it and now my friends reel is in a million pieces. i was wondering if anyone knows of a good reel repair man? if it matters at all its a shimano stradic 2500. thanks for any help :D

Check with Jeremy up at New Berlin Boat and RV. He has been doing some reel repairs right there on site.

I found a guy in Gainesville that did a good job for me, you'll have to ship it though....

i think avid angler in st augustine does reel repair or at least they did. download the diagram from shimano and you could probably do it your self with a little patience.

And to think the last time I dropped my Okuma Vsystem reel in the surf I just rinsed it off and kept fishing it. ;)

The Reel Man on SR 13 just past the shands fishing pier on the right side of the road. A ways out the but he is supposed to be really good. Havnt been down that way in a while, so im not positive his shop is still open.

In the meantime...... what did you do with the reel that got dropped in the saltwater. Hopefully he took it immediately and put it in a bucket of soapy water and let it soak for couple of days. If he didn't do this or something similar.... probably to late to do any repairs as the salt/sand has already taken it's toll :(

thanks for the help guys i'll probably go see the guy on sr13. and the first thing he did was take it apart and scrubbed each piece with a soapy water and a toothbrush now all the pieces are just sittin in a gallon bag. looks really confusing :scratch:
