Hello eltiburon....and welcome to JKF!!!

Not many of the JAX based crew "targets" sharks down here, but MANY of the S.E. GA guys do since there are many species up there and that area is a natural breeding ground and hatchery!!

Lesson #1....look up in the upper left hand corner underneath the JKF Logo and you will see the word "Search"

Click on it and then type the "keyword" shark

Move down to the "select Forum" and click on "Kayak Fishing" and click on Submit. You will get something like 112 "hits"...not all of them are valid, but it is a great place to start!!
Skim thru them, and some are very good info for you

Here is one of the best that I saw:
topic18505.html?hilit=shark

Enjoy...and be careful out there!!

If you mean land based shark fishing, from the beach, then you'll need to get in touch with me. If you mean kayak based, close to the beach, then you'll still need to get in touch with me...

Me and my bunch will be getting started as soon as the water gets to 65 degrees.

We fish hard, have a caught a bunch of fish from 8 to 11 feet, release everything, and spend our fishing time FISHING, not partying.

Always looking for serious help.

Come on Rob, everyone knows you party so hard that the last time you were up in Tybee you caught the crabs... in your bathtub!!!

I used to camp on the beach with a bunch of guys that fished for shark. There were tournaments in those days sponsored by the North Florida Shark Hunters Association.

There was this one guy who would paddle out, at night, in a small, "rapids" type kayak, carrying a large hunk of bloody Bonita. He would paddle way out to drop the bait. He said he often had sharks bump his kayak. I though then it was crazy. I now know it was.

 "Dumb" comes to mind as well. Crazy works but dumb is an appropriate adjective for that "touched" fellow as well.

There was a fellow in SW Fla who posted a few years ago on another yak fishing site about watching a 10'+ hammerhead bump his yak as he fished for tarpon. Needless to say he quit fishing for tarpon in SW Fla out of a yak. Your old friend should try that stunt in the daytime for some perspective on his bumps. I'll watch from the beach. :smoke:
