I've caught them in my parent's golf course canal in Ponte Vedra Bch Fl on Strike King's "Red Fish Magic". Good luck. I got them working it slowly off the bottom. I've also picked off a few bass and a catfish (?). I usually fish inshore salt water but I always keep a rod or two in my vehicle. Well, I'm an addict and can't even look at water without wanting to see if I can catch something. R.F.M. is pretty fool-proof.

When I lived in Tampa many years ago I would catch them in the Hillsborough River near Morris Bridge. They never seem to want to hit anything till one day I knotted up some spanish moss on one of my foam rubber spiders that I used to catch bream. I dropped the moss ball into the bed and began to move it very slowly in the bed. I wouldnt get a hook up everytime, but did enough of the time to target Tilapia that way. I have eaten them, and they were not bad, but that was in the 1970s and I was a hungry college student.

I have these in my 5 acre retention pond out back. I get them every now and then netting shiners for bass fishing. They have never eaten anything on a hook that I know of either. I can catch hundreds of Bream on bread dough balls, worms, corn ... all day long but none of these in the past few years have been hooked into by anyone fishing on the dock.

We use to catch Nile Perch on green peas when I lived in Lakeland. A gig or bow and arrow takes most of them on Lake George when out on the Airboat.
