Met Dreads to pick up the Phoenix 140 and of course had to get out and slime it. The day started out slow as the spot that always produces for me was dead. I did see a guy pull in a nice flounder up the creek from me. So after pulling up and moving down the creek to spot #2, first cast, 20" black drum...

Followed by quite a few more from 12" to 17"...

Have to say the 20" and 17" drum put up a decent fight. At first I thought they were reds.

I was beginning to think the cold water temps had only the black drum hitting things when this guy came along...

The new ride...

This is a 2007 P140 and has more volume in the bow than the newer ones. It's light and a good paddling yak. I just can't wait to get it out for some surf launches now. :)

Dang I thought I had you sold on pedaling a Hobie!! (someone taught me how to spell it right) ;)

Those Drum look like the makings of a nice meal!! You couldn't wrangle up a flounder like the other cat you saw? I haven't even been able to scare up a flounder lately, thought they were all offshore. Those trout have been pretty elusive too, guess they don't know they are safe this month!! Great day on the water.

;) Come on Chappy, you should know me better than that by now.

Nah, this yak will be for my daughters when they come down, or for visitors, and for when I hit the grass flats or go sheepie fishing. I am working on revamping my fleet, but my fleet won't end up being all plastic. Gonna throw some fiberglass in there for a couple of them. :thumbleft: Was planning on picking up two P140s down the road and when Dreads put this up for sale I had to jump on it. :)

And yes, those puppy drum always make a good meal. I like their taste better than I do reds.
