Just curious, did you keep the tagged Redfish?

Nice! Looks like he caught it with a "grapefruit" lure.

Nice catch.
That tag looking thing is a parasite that attaches to redfish, pretty common in the winter.

Nice flattie but your buddies Big Bass is the cat's meow!! LOL I thought it looked like a parasite as well. Care to elaborate Capt., why don't they have them in the Summer? Is it because they don't sit idle in the mud long enough?

I thought it was a parasite at first myself but after a closer look it seemed to have a small plastic barb and the red part was hard plastic also. Been fishing the intracoastal for 25 yrs and thought I had seen about every parasite there was.
Oh well we released the fish with whatever it was still in the fish.
And yes that was a pig. The big bass bite turned on last week. The St. Marys out in my area has been given up some large pigs on topwater in the early part of the day.
Thinking about that online Black Bass tournament!
More flat fish from the day

I noticed you are from Macclenny. I live there also. I went out for the first time yesterday in my Kayak. I have a lot to learn. I didn't catch any fish. I have always fished out of a boat. I enjoyed the experience but need some help in how to fish this way. Elmer Crews
