Can anyone give me a reason why I shouldn't purchase this reel? I plan to put 8# mono on it. I have the 360 and love it.
Thanks --VJ

Long as it fits you properly have fun with it. The reel is from a well known firm with loads of spare parts if required.

Vinny I have fished Slammer 260 since it came out - love it the reel is very reliable and well built. I use 20-30lb braid on it. Now I am upgrading over time to the Penn Conquer 4000 which is everything the Slammer was but better.

Thanks guys - one last question - do you think it's overkill for freshwater fishing (mostly spotted bass) with 8# mono? Thanks - it's coming up to Atlanta with me.

Hey Vinny!! Just read the specs and some reviews and it seems very nice!! Heavy duty, metal body, waterproof and reversible drag washer, and American Made!!! What is there NOT to like?? :salute:

Your 8# mono will not be overkill when you get a 4 or 5# spotted bass on your line in Lake Lanier!! Or, underneath and often with the spots, are his BIGGER COUSINS....Striped Bass!!! You may even consider heavier or even braid once one of them takes you down into the TREES that are still down there!!

PS: My first (only!!) striped bass was at Lanier in about 80' of water, and it was pulling staight downward and even pulling my rodtip down into the water....one of the GKF guys yelled to me: "Keep it out of the trees"........and I yelled "Trees?.....in 80' of water??" YEPPERS!!

Signed Sealed and Delivered.

Instead of searching for bigger fish, I'll just catch the same fish I always do with smaller tackle. :thumbright: Game on!

Edit: Went out tonight and caught a small barracuda and a little 2lb Jack Crevalle - felt like a 15lb fish peeling drag off that tiny reel and actually took a few minutes to bring in - amazing how scaling down my tackle has redefined my old fishing hole.
