to catch fish. I am 65 and not really up to paddling miles for fishing. How far would I have to go to catch redfish or trout.

Also, what is the basic stuff I would need. I have a sit on top kayak with no compartments. I do have strap down areas.

any help would be appreciated.

I've caught fish 100 yards from the launch... so, not far.

Well, you could always try Genung's Fish Camp ( 206 bridge area ). From launch to fishing it's just across the waterway. I fish there from time to time :D

You should be able to catch fish within 500 yards of the dam on the north side. I usually paddle to the Northwest side of the area.

You will also appreciate some sort of rod holders if you dont have any. check out some pics from the gallery on this site to get ideas for converting milk crates and PVC into rod holders and storage.

On the south (river) side of the dam, all the water you can see from shore holds fish to be caught.

:thumbright: I checked out the forum on tips and found it to be a great resource. I have a lot of reading to do.

This is one of the best forums, fishing or otherwise I have ever seen. It amazes me because this is a small regional focused forum.

Yes but its devotees are spread far and wide! :D
