Since it was a slight break in the weather, I decided to give it a shot today. Didnt get on the water until around noon. First time at Haulover. I paddled around but it was cold on the water.
So cold, all the birds were huddled up tight...

I paddled, trolled and threw the arties, for and long time with nothing happening. came around this bend and all the birds flew off but one, as I got closer, it became obvious, something was wrong with the bird. It was tangled up in fishing line and the line was caught on an oyster bed.

Look close and you can see the fishing line.

I used my paddle to distract the BEAK and got the line cut. It was kinda like it knew I was coming to help cause it didnt freak out or anything, in fact it was quite calm. It flew off and that was that.

I did find a spot and caught a few fish. 4 Rat reds, 2 puppy drum and 1 13" Flattie that went back to grow up.. Overall, a good day, but still COLD............. to me...

Looks like a great day on the water. I'm sure that bird was real glad you got out there.

WTG Dreads! Saving the bird was a cool thing to do. Would have been a crappy way to die, tied to the oysters while the tide came in, or being eaten alive by crabs. Looks like you were rewarded with some decent rod bending.

:fingers: PETA (Ive always wanted to use that smilie)
My thought process says, every animal has a place in this world, and birds should be flying.
I dont call Fish Sea Kittens, cause they are not. They are Fish. Jesus fed a mulititude with fish and bread, so I think the place for some fish is on a dinner plate.......... :D

You are now an honorary member of the beaks organization. That karma will pay off with many a blessed fishing day no doubt. Nice job catching a few fish anyway.

You need to teach that bird to find some Redfsih and you got yourself a goldmine.

Nice job on helping out. I had to help a pelican once and it was not fun.
