I had one for about 2 weeks, it was a great boat if thats what you want and you nkow what your getting. My mom works for perception kayaks and got me mine as a gift, i didnt have much use for it as it was not a sit ontop, no where to get the water out if some splashes in. But im 6'4 220 and i could stand very well in that yak.

I have been looking at the Commander, but just can't seem to get away from my X Factor. I like the scuppers and don't want to have to sponge out water or hook up a bilge of some sort. I did like the ability to mount a trolling motor on the commander but that would not make me buy it. The seat and its adjustability was appealing also.

The commander is an awesome boat, however for someone your size I would recommend the ultimate 145.... Mudfish on this forum is close to your size and loves that boat. Search his posts and you will get the feel of that boat. Also you can come in the store and try them out.

I agree with Joe... you should consider the Ult 145. I've owned mine for about a year, have gone fishing in it nearly every weekend since I bought it, and still love it. Very high quality product. Extremely comfortable, stable, roomy, and dry. I mainly fish creeks, flats, and the ICW creek mouths, from Amelia to Flagler, have encountered some big wakes, and not having scuppers has never been an issue with my Ult 145. My previous yaks were sot's and I never removed their scupper plugs. This past Sunday I paddled a 4 mile round trip in a steady 15 mph wind and about a one foot chop with whitecaps and my Ult 145 did not take on any water, just an occasional spray to the face. But, it is a sit inside yak, so if you want to fish the surf or jetties, this is not the yak for you.

Test paddle one at BCO, or you are welcome to test paddle mine loaded with fishing gear. I'll have it on the water this weekend.

PM me if you want more info.

my birthday is soon-I want one of these!!! Have fished for years out of a sit in and I have NEVER had an issue with water getting inside-have been in some heavy chop and healthy winds, always staying dry( and warm in winter)-just my 2 cents

I go 225 and I really liked the commander - like that captain's perch too. Black Creek has them to test drive!
