Hey Peter@JAX.....That looks really nice....Great job!!!

Even has room on that rack for your paddles....and maybe even rods/reels...a reall space-saver!!

Question: When loaded like that, can you still push, pull or drag it into the garage??? Guess you really would not have to move it often tho....just wondered!!
Looks like you could just back your car/truck right up to it and quickly load and unload...
Thx...JohnYaksJax

Rolls just fine in the garage, I have no problem moving it around inside.
Tri-caster wheels from Home Depot- rolls fine inside gargage but needs a bit of effort because of expansion joint to get it outside. may need to experiment with wheels a bit - the tricaster hold 150lbs each

Thats the plan John - back truck up and roll yaks in..
I was bored so I got bust to free up some space..

Pete

Nice work. I think you are going to like it. I made a triple decker last summer out of 2 X 4's and it has made my garage storage issues disappear. I have my canoe on the bottom and two kayaks above it. I made it so it would roll out of the garage as well so I can move it wherever I need to. I can also back my truck up to it and slide my stealth right onto the middle rung after a good rinse. Nice job!

Sweet!

If you don't mind saying, how much did you spend in PVC? I was thinking about doing the say thing with either PVC or 2x4's. (I am sure PVC would also be a heck of a lot lighter.)

Great job! I built a similar rack 3 years ago but never put the wheels on it. I had originally designed a 2X6 wood frame with heavy duty casters. My rack will hold 4 kayaks with two side by side on the top rack and two on the bottom rack. However, since I only have two kayaks, I store them on the top and all of my paddles etc on the bottom rack. In addition I built a PVC rack that fits in the bed of my pick up to raise the kayaks above the level of the wheel wells. That way I can get two Tarpon 120s in the bed side by side. The beauty of the double decker rack is that when I need to load the kayaks in the truck, I back up to the garage rack and slide the kayaks onto the rack in the truck. When I get home I slide the yaks onto a set of sawhorses where they get washed. Then they slide right onto the garage rack for storage. Your design is a great idea for anyone who doesn't want to left their yaks and load them, especially if they have a truck. The only time I have to lift my yak is when Im done foishing and have to load it in the truck. It was also a very inexpensive thing to build.
