anyone fishing this? i don't see the separate class for kayaks like they had in the past. i have fished it twice but this year will be my first in the yak.

The Annual El Cheapo Sheepshead Tourney is a wonderful tournament and it is a great experience to fish it!! The tourney director, Frank Joura, runs a really fun tourney, there are many raffles to win, and the fried fresh sheepshead dinner is YAMMY!!!

In 2006, I "entered" the Kayak Division but did not Register and pay at the Capt. Meeting since the weather was AWEFUL!!! Cold and rainy and very high winds, so no kayakers entered or fished, and the VHF Radio that was to go to the kayak division winner was put back into the general raffles.

In 2007, there was a $250 Cash Prize for the winning kayak sheepie, and I was lucky enough to win!!! There were only a few people that registered and paid and fished, and I guess that I was the only one who caught a "convict fish":
"#72 Overall.....Stewart, John....5.3#....$250.00...Top Placing Kayak"

I wish that I would have worked more closely with Frank Joura in the last couple of years to keep a "kayak division" going, and securing a prize for the winning kayaker, but I did not....maybe next year??

PS: If you fish the Tourney in a kayak, BE CAREFUL!!! The Tourney was SOLD OUT last year with powerboats (300?) and inside the jetties are not a very safe place to fish with all those boats and that ripping current!!! (I did not fish at the jetties.....)
