Fished Guana River today. Made a new fish measuring jig and wanted to slime it. VERY windy and cool. Got on the water around 10:30 and started heading for the creeks to hide from the wind. Saw some bait fish activity near the grass so I staked out and picked up a few reds between 15" and 23", and some black drum to 14.5". The wind would not let up, it had to be 20 mph and stronger gusts, so I was off the water by 2:00.

All the props too ya in the world for being out there today. I'm going to blame not being out there on my West Coast Hangover. Well I guess it's called Jet lag but whatever it was just plain nasty out there today!!! Nice Fish!!

Good play in just getting out and braving the nasty conditions. Looks like there was some reward to that.

Thanks guys. Well, it was either do yard work in the cold wind, or go fishing in the cold wind. I'm glad I went fishing :D

Dreads,
Let me know next time you fish St Aug, it would be good to fish with you again. All of the St Aug spots have been producing decent catches for me, even during those sub 30 degree mornings :shaking2:

That's roughin' it! Went to the outlet mall with the wife and it was cold enough there! We did stop at Corky Bell's on the way home for a fresh catch of fried catfish and shrimp. Nice redfish and the custom measuring device looks great!

Hey Mudfish....I thought I had posted a response to this, but guess not...SORRY!!!

Mudfish and I chatted about 10:00 and he was already there and on the water....in the RIVER instead of the more sheltered LAKE!!

Shows just how much I know.....LOL!!
Told him that it was just too cold and windy for me.....and he said it was too cold and windy for him too, but that he was ALREADY on the water!!

About 15 minutes later, I get a TEXT msg....."15" redfish".....and I sent him an answer...

About 15 minutes after that one, I get another TEXT msg....."23 " fedfish".....DANG!!!
Good job Jim of facing some brutal conditions and getting some fish in the boat....and on the table too I am certain!! YAMMY!!!
JohnYaksJax
PS: GREAT "measuring jig" that you just built.....Nice job!!
