The Kayak Anglers fish on Sundays.
******************************************
Here is a sneak preview, guys. There are still details to be finished for 2010, and it will be a little while longer, but as I promised earlier this week, I am putting out the most important parts for you guys. I believe that this will be the actual 2010 schedule.

FL EAST COAST DIVISION

FEBRUARY 27 & 28 JACKSONVILLE, FL
MAY 1 & 2 TITUSVILLE, FL
OCTOBER 9 & 10 FERNANDINA BEACH, FL

FL WEST COAST DIVISION
MARCH 6 & 7 PUNTA GORDA, FL
MAY 15 & 16 SARASOTA, FL
SEPTEMBER 18 & 19 RUSKIN, FL

GULF COAST DIVISION

MARCH 13 & 14 DESTIN, FL
JUNE 5 & 6 PANAMA CITY BEACH, FL
OCTOBER 16 & 17 ORANGE BEACH, AL

ATLANTIC DIVISION

MARCH 20 & 21 CHARLESTON, SC
MAY 22 & 23 SURF CITY, NC
SEPTEMBER 25 & 26 GEORGETOWN, SC

TEXAS DIVISION

APRIL 17 & 18 PORT LAVACA, TX
JUNE 12 &13 ROCKPORT, TX
SEPTEMBER 11 & 12 PORT ARANSAS, TX

LOUISIANA DIVISION

APRIL 10 & 11 COCODRIE. LA
JUNE 19 & 20 EMPIRE, LA
AUGUST 28 & 29 GRAND ISLE, LA

Championship location or dates/TBA.

Before the questions start about payout/entries/prizes/sponsors/contingencies/kayaks, etc..., we are still finalizing some aspects of the season. More details will be furnished soon.

I will say this re: payout and entries...

The 2010 payout will be increased from 2009, and yet we will NOT price any anglers out of the tournaments.

As far as the venues: We have been looking at and considering some of these venues for several years, and nothing in 2010 has been done lightly.

The IFA has placed it's faith in our many talented and hard-working anglers to recognize the value and potential of the locations and venues we have chosen for this season, and we believe that the 2010 schedule will have the maximum benefit for our members.

Nothing negative towards any venues that we did not choose this year. At the request of many anglers, we have looked at and will fish a few locations that we have not been to in the past, or in some cases not in a long time.

I trust this will now allow all the guys to make their schedule planning complete.

Hey FLJERRYP13.......Thanks for posting the IFA Tourney Schedule so far in advance..Nice work!!

I am NOT trying to be "contrary" but I would like to think that I am NOT the only person out of 2,818 people registered in here that does not know who/what the "IFA" is or does.....???

Would you please post a Reply with a link to your website or something that tells us more about the IFA?? Since I am a member on 8-10 kayak fishing websites, I might be able to help you spread the word to people who might fish those venues in the other states where they are held???

I am more into camping and fishing new areas and geography than "tournament" fishing, but I am always interested in trying some new waters!!
Thank you very much!!

Hobie Fishing teamed up with the IFA and is now presenting an Annual Tournament Series for kayak anglers. The IFA Pro Anglers have there captains meeting on Friday evening and fish their tournament on Saturdays and after their final weigh-in and prize($$$) distribution they hold the captains meeting for the kayak anglers on Saturday evening with the kayak tournament on Sunday. As you can see by the schedule, there are regional divisions and a Championship tournament at the end of the year. The IFA just completed their 2009 season therefore, the IFA website is showing all the results and info for 2009. Here is the IFA link to their site.

The first day will be the boat tournament and the second day (Sunday) will be the Kayak Tournament. It will be $100 to fish in the the Kayak Tournament, and it will be Redfish/Trout Slam, Big Red, Big Trout. Hobie is the sponsor and first place Combo gets a Pro-Angler, and Revolution and Outback will befor Big Red and Big Trout. Depending on the number of participants as to how many places will pay out in cash. Thats all I know so far.

Awesome...Trout and Reds! I'm sure it's only artificials too. Hey Suber, we'll just follow upthecreek around and blast a cast next to his everytime he makes a cast. If he hooks up, one of us can block, while the other nets the catch before he gets it to his one of many Hobies.

LIZELLA, Ga. (November 23, 2009) – A commitment to offering inshore redfish anglers opportunities for lucrative payouts and low participation costs continues in 2010, evidenced by the IFA Redfish Tour’s recently released 2010 regular-season schedule. The schedule again features 18 regular-season events contested across six different divisions with the tour making stops in some of most famed redfish destinations in the country.

The regular season begins on February 27, 2010, when anglers fishing the Florida East Coast Division converge on Jacksonville, Fla., with the final regular-season event occurring on October 16, 2010, at Orange Beach, Ala., the site of the 2009 IFA Redfish Tour Championship. In all, the 2010 IFA Redfish Tour will come to six states – from Texas to the Carolinas – bringing multiple, close-to-home opportunities for redfish anglers to be a part of a professionally operated tournament without significant investments of time or money normally required when fishing other tours.

Said IFA President Jim Armstrong, “Anglers want to fish and be a part of something fun and lucrative. With one-day tournaments close to home, anglers don’t have to trailer all over the country if they don’t want to do so. Our tournaments continue to be as affordable as they are fun – and best of all, anglers can really cash in on the prize packages and contingencies.”

Each of the 18 regular-season events will commence on Saturday with the newly formed IFA Kayak Fishing Tour Presented by Hobie Fishing contested the following day (Sundays). In its inaugural season, the IFA Kayak Fishing Tour Presented by Hobie Fishing will feature 18 regular-season, catch-photograph-release events across six different division (mirroring the IFA Redfish Tour format, location and scheduling) as well as extremely lucrative payouts and expanded fishing opportunities for non-motorized fishing crafts.

“The IFA is excited to team with Hobie Fishing in offering a second day of competition,” said Bart Schad of the IFA. “A great number of inshore anglers fish from kayaks and this tournament gives this group a chance to compete in a format custom designed for their tactics.”

The IFA Redfish Tour continues to draw redfish anglers from Texas to the Carolinas and beyond, offering two-angler teams the opportunity to compete in six different divisions, each offering a three-event regular season. Low entry fees for the one-day, regular-season tournaments allows anglers to fish close to home and minimize expenses, while still being a part of a premier inshore, catch-and-release redfish tournament organization. For more information on the IFA Redfish Tour, to become a member of the IFA or to become a part of the fastest-growing inshore fishing tournament series in the United States, go online to redfishtour.com. For a complete set of the tournament rules and to learn more about The Redfish Tour visit www.redfishtour.com. To discover more about kayaking and Hobie Fishing go to www.hobiefishing.com.

IFA Redfish Tour events are made possible through the sponsorship and continued support of the fishing industry’s most respected brands: Ranger Boats, Hobie Fishing, Cabela's, Yamaha Outboards, Rapala, Trigger X, Sufix, Minn Kota, Humminbird, Power-Pole, Wrap This, CW Crab, Charter Lakes Marine Insurance, Solar Bat, Gemini Custom Apparel, Navionics, Bob's Machine Shop, Blue Point Fabrication, Terminator, VMC Hooks, Loadmaster Trailers, Powertex Group and Audubon Aquarium of the Americas.

Closed season doesn't mean you can't catch them...you just can't keep them. It's closed season now in South Florida through the end of December and I've probably caught over 50 Trout this month and watched them all swim away vigorously. I see no problem, how about anyone else?

This thread was initiated to provide interested anglers information regarding a new series of kayak fishing tournaments. In my opinion, if you wish to express your opinion of fishing for trout during the closed season, a new topic should have been started under "General".

Gasman does bring up a good point. Since I release all the trout I catch(don't like eating those wormbags), it's not a big deal. Just take a picture, release, and roll on.
