Okay, you guys got me thinking now. I have an old small camera tripod laying around and I took the top section off. Come to find out it fits into a Scotty base...

Hey Bill - I picked up this same tripod. Can you post a pic of how you modified it to fit in a scotty/flush mount?
Thanks - VJ

Check out the GoPro HERO camera - it totally rocks. I'd like to get a couple more to put all around the kayak.

I second that.

I bought the the HD Wide view, and I love it.
After using it for a while, I see I could have gotten by with the standard view HD camera.
Filming at 60 FPS is awesome when you playback in slow motion.

Forgot to mention - the 2 best inexpensive but decent video editing tools I've been using is either Pinnacle or Cyberlink Powerdirector. Both are about $100 and do a nice job on all the formats and codecs. Check out one of my kids on the GoPro surfing - edited with Pinnacle. The key to editing convenience is a superfast Intel i7 setup.

I have some more footage from pogie pods that was mediocre and some paddleboard stuff I haven't been able to edit yet. I love their head mount and would love to have some extras in other spots on the yak ;)
