Anyone know a reputable outboard mechanic? I was given a boat small boat with a 40 HP Yamaha from my dad. He's had to quit fishing due to health reasons. I don't plan on using the boat often and will most likely use it freshwater fishing on larger resovoirs. Anyway it's a 1989 and I'd like to get it in running condition.

Just the fact that i am posting this topic reminds me why i love kayak fishing more than stink pot fishing.....NO Motor problems.

Don't forget that with a stinkpot, you need to flush the motor after each time you take it out. The same rule applies for a kayak. Only difference is that you flush the kayak motor with a Corona :D

Don't know if you want to travel, but there is a great guy named Brian that operates out of the Shady Oyster down here by the 206 Bridge. He's very honest and his rates are much lower than a marina too. I've used him for working on my motor.

I agree, Jeff at Isle of Palms has a long standing very good reputation. He's the only I let work on my motor.
