The MBKFA is proud to announce that on Sept. 18th and 19th it will host the 1st Annual Alabama Coastal Inshore/Offshore Kayak Fishing Tournament.
Congratulations to Danny Adkins, flounderpounder, for being Tournament Director of this great event.
The MBKFA is working with the Alabama Gulf Coast Sports Commission to bring a large kayak fishing tournament to the coast of Alabama. Offshore and inshore categories will be available. So if you want to catch Kings, go for it. If Redfish are your style, go for it.
The Tournament will be located at the Orange Beach Waterfront Park.
If you thought 5 Rivers was big, wait till you see this. Hotel/motel discounts will be available to all participants. Prizes will be announced at a later date as sponsors come onboard.
The Captains Meeting will be the evening of the 18th and it will be required for all anglers to attend. Meals will be furnished at the Captains Meeting and you will receive a ticket in your Captains Bag for a meal that day at the tournament grounds. The awards ceremony will be the night of Sept 19th.
Calcuttas will be available for those who feel they're good enough to win cash in either the King Mackerel or Speckled Trout categories.
This will be the largest kayak fishing tournament in the history of Alabama, and hopefully the largest on the Gulf Coast. Proceeds from the Tournament will go to benefit Covenant Hospice. This is the group we worked with for the Turtle Herding Event at 5 Rivers. They're a non-profit corporation that works from Tallahassee to Mobile.
