I recently moved to boring land locked Orlando from Jax. Shortly after moving here my kayak was stolen. I dont have the cash to replace it at the moment, but can't stand the fact of sitting home on the weekend.

I am about a half hour or so from the lagoon and fished there in the Cobra Fish n Dive Kayak once before it was stolen.

I have an inflatable Sevylor kayak that I would like to use to fish the lagoon. Now in Jax most of the places i fish have lots of oysters so I never used the inflatable in fear of it being cut.

Does the lagoon have oyster bars. I have not seen them when fishing there or on tv? Do you think an inflatable would do alright? I spend a lot of time wading with the kayak tied to me and I dont cover a lot of ground because I hate paddling far.

Also I would like to launch from the Bio Lab Rd area. Are there some good semi protected spots around there (preferably oyster free)?

Thanks for your help guys.

It would probably work for a wading platform. Watch your wind in that inflatable, especially the afternoon sea breeze, unless you want a long walk.

You can launch at the north east corner of the parking lot at Bio Lab or take the dirt road to the south just before getting to the boat launch and head south along the dike road. There's several launch areas along this area. If you go approx. 4.1 miles south after crossing over the culverts you'll see some sticks (old pilings) protuding out of the water along the west shore line. Here there's a couple of areas you can park and slide your kayak in the lagoon. If you paddle out toward Pelican Island you will be along the west side and south end of the Whale Tail. Try working this area up to the north a mile or so, it's usually very productive. Eddy Creek will also be directly do east from this launch site which to access by vehicle you'll need to go into Playlinda Beach and pay $3 at the Park Entrance. It all depaends on the weather which side to launch from. As for oysters I haven't seen any in the area and the wading can be a little soft so I would advise to stay in the yak. Good Luck and tight lines.

Thanks for the advice on where to go. I have been down to the bio lab ramp a couple of times but I never saw this road to the south I will look harder. The creek where the ramp is seems to travel back that way, does it end real fast or does the dike road go over it? I have found some sweet little pockets off of Pump House road but I think that was on the other side of the main road.

I plan on trying the area you suggested this weekend weather permitting.
Now i just have to figure out how to rig the milk crate and cooler to the inflatable.

Thanks again.
