MARCH 28 - NOON - 6 PM: Bring the family and come out and explore some of the most beautiful lands and waterways in Jacksonville.

Join the North Florida Land Trust, City of Jacksonville, Florida State Parks, the Sierra Club and the Nature Conservancy as we explore Pumpkin Hill.

Don't forget your kayaks/canoes, fishing gear, walking shoes and appetite. Explore the kayaking launches on public and private lands today as we allow people to tour Bugtussle, a private estate which the North Florida Land Trust is working to acquire for conservation. Put in at Bogey Creek Landing, and kayak over to our island in Clapboard Creek- Pescatello, walk the trail we've created on the island, and then paddle back. Tours of the private estates of Spencer and McGehee will be held between 12 and 6 pm.

The Rotary Club of North Jacksonville is doing a Fish Fry (beer by donation), from 3-6 pm on the estate. $10 adults/$5 kids under 10. For more information or to purchase tickets to the Fish Fry - 827-9870 or www.northfloridalandtrust.org. Program of events for the day will be handed out at the corner of New Berlin Rd. & Cedar Point Rd.

Map of area showing launch sites is attached.

Looks like a fun time with a great organization!
I've launched and fished at both Pumpkin Hill Creek and Cedar Point (Horseshoe Creek). That's a beautiful area.

Question: Where exactly on the map is Bogey Creek Landing?

Bogey Creek Landing is the little red spot - 5.67 acres shown on the map. The North Florida Land Trust owns this parcel in partnership with the City of Jacksonville. The only access at this time is through the Spencer's Bugtussle property, so until the acquisition is complete, it isn't a public launch. This is the perfect day to launch from here and check out Clapboard Creek from a new direction and kayak over to the other red spot.

That actually sounds like it would be a lot of fun. Too bad torn cartilage is keeping me out of the kayak for a month... :(
