I wasn't sure I was ever really going to catch a fish with a fly, but sure enough it happened. I was fishing Mill Cove on Sunday (through several short rain showers) and besides that it was pretty nice. A little windy, but not too bad. I got two smaller than legal trouts just by trolling plastics on a jighead (first time I that actually worked for me). I also caught a 14" trout in a channel at dead low tide. I figured that since I had already caught some fish, I might as well bust out the fly rod I picked up from one of the JKF member's yard sale and practice casting (thats what it always seems like I'm doing). Tied on a black clouser, and sure enough I got a hit. I was so suprised, I realized I never really knew what to do when a fish got on. I reeled in the slack, started to reel, and put too much pressure on him.....snap.....dangit. Tied on my last one, got another hit, stripped this one in by hand without reeling. Wound up being a 15" trout that lived to swim another day. Next day, went to Black Fly Outfitters and picked up an arsenal of flies. Looks like I might have a new favorite hobby.
