I was noticed by a few other fellow Yakers at the end of the day today. Told them I hadn't caught much since 10:00 AM that morning when I hit the shore line. Waited for the weather to warm up before launching. Man what a beautiful day it was for fishing! Guess the wind chased them off but they got pretty lucky for the day already. All I had at the time was a tray full of bait stealing fish from early that morning. Needed a half once of weight with the out going current and picked then all up off the bottom around 1PM. They (The three of them.) scurried off and wished me luck at about 4:30 PM and what a wish they left behind and left me with! I picked up two before the bite went cold or before the heard sauntered off elsewhere! These biggies made my day! :D
Unfortunately my pedal system cable repair didn't hold up for the whole day. So I guess I'm not going on any long voyages any wheres anytime soon for now. Can't easily dig up $48.00 for new cables when you unemployed. :(
I didn't have to go far for these two anyway.
18.5"s @ 4.25 pounds, & 17.5"s @ 3.5 pounds the one from two weeks ago @7 Pounds just fed SIX people Thursday night! :D
FWC was buzzing all around today too! Had three spot checks on the water and even one on the shore!

WTG Quake! Sorry to hear about the unemployment...my thoughts are with you, as I was unemployed for 6 months and just found new employment on Dec 15. I did not take the yak out for 5 months...So hang in there and hopefully things will change quickly.

Is that a puffer fish in the top of your 3rd pic? Why would you keep that? You know those are poisonous to eat if not cleaned properly.

So tell me more what parts are posion? I came from a family of 15 brothers and sisters. We caught these by the 5 gallon buckets and none of use die from eating them? I mainly kept him because of what they can do to your VERY EXPENSIVE Gulp Bait! This one won't be chewing on any more that's for sure. :D What type of fish was the other one? He had a sucker type mouth but with teeth in it! His body was shaped like a shark though. Should have taken a side picture of him. Thanks for the complement on the sunset picture. I liked the one with the FULL MOON in it too.

So, please tell me that you are not keeping that fish just because he was peckin on your gulp  . If you are really going to eat it, then fine. But to just kill a fish for no reason is pretty lame.

I would imagine both of those fish probably taste like AZZ anyway.

He swallowed the hook too! He wouldn't have made it after that anyway. So don't read to much into the story! Okay?

Quake...since this "bubbled back to the top".....what are the SEVEN (7) fish that you showed on that one picture??

I certainly hope that they are NOT Spotted Seatrout or Weakfish (Yellowmouth Trout) since the daily bag limit of Spotted Seatrout is FIVE fish...and for Weakfish, it is FOUR fish per day!!
What species were they???

Thank you very much....JohnYaksJax

PS: Killing fish just to be killing fish for vengence is not an approved action in here!!

Dude, if you want to eat puffer fish go right ahead. I was just trying to save you a trip to the ER. Reference: Sport Fish of the Atlantic by Vic Dunaway, Page 217, Southern Puffer-food value excellent, however improper cleaning can lead to serious, even fatal poisoning. Best eat something else. But seriously y'all ate 5 gallon buckets worth of puffer fish. That explains a lot!

You kept them "mainly" because they were stealing your bait? That's just plain wrong!... Or was it the swallowed hook thing? For both? Dude, don't be changing stories half way through your post.

And the bag limit? JYJ... is right!

Have you ever seen what salt water does to hooks? That hook would more than likely have eventually rusted out. Enjoy you "Trash Fish Stew". You should try a nice needlefish patte' as an appetizer and then finish it off with a little sting ray ice cream for dessert.

They must have been watching you keep all those fish :D Kind of like an old girlfriend of mine who had one eye. "I'll keep an eye out for you"
