I'm just a St. Augustine vacationer who gets down a couple times a year, but I used to surf fish in the Vero Beach area and you could catch as many sand fleas as you wanted on the beach. I haven't seen any in St. Augustine, are they this far north?

Secondly, since I can pretty much pick any week to come down this spring, I am trying to pick the week with the best tides since I need every advantage I can to get me success out of the yak. It seems like the first of the outgoing is a favorite, and I'll probably be fishing the first half of the day so I was thinking days when high tide was around first light would be the ultimate. Yes? No? I know the best time is whenever you can go, but if you had to pick????

The last of the outgoing to til a couple of hours after the incoming. Check the tab above and find out when you have those conditions early in the am and you should do fine in any of the creeks listed under the Fishing Spots section.

If your talkin' about surf fishin' fish the sloughs at high tide with fresh dead shrimp. The sand fleas are pretty much gone south for the winter. Look for a NE wind about 10 mph. Good Luck

Thanks, I'm glad I asked.

I'll mainly be yaking, but if I could come up with some sand fleas I might try the surf here and there since one of the relatives down there prefers that. We'll try the slough tip thanks.

Thanks for the info on where to go Bradp.
