I went out this morning at 4 am. I wanted to see the meteor shower and get in some fishin'. After a grand total of 1 and only 1 shooting star, the fog closed in. I fished for a while with arties, having no luck. Waited 'til 6 am for Brown's Creek Bait shop to open and got a dozen mudminnows. The tide was lower than normal so most of my normal spots were dry. I went a little farther in and around a few bends and then Wham!

I brought in one after another for 30 minutes. A total of 10 reds: a 20", an 18" and the rest just under slot. Tired and out of bait I headed back to the launch trolling some artificial minnows. Because of the low tide they were snagging on just about every oyster I passed. Then I hit one snag that started me going backwards. This turned out to be a 17" flattie.

What a great way to start out the New Year.

Hey Zuglet.....Ya gotta love it when those "snags" start swimming away from you!!

Congrats on the fun trip and congrats on that good run of redfish you got into!!!

Too bad you did not see more meteors...but....I'd rather catch fish!!
(Was it one of the "named" annual events??)

Thx for the report....JohnYaksJax

Congrats! Did I meet you briefly on Friday? I was the guy who lost a fish while you were snagged on the bottom?

JYJ yeah I think it was the Perseid meteor shower. I was hoping to do both fish and see.

Joe that was me, too bad that snag wasn't another flattie.

Now I'm hooked, I gotta do the night fishing more often but my normal fishin buddies don't do the dark fishing.
