We left the pier about 8:15 low tide was about 5:30am so we went with the water down the bank. Chris and kayne caught the first 2 trout over 20". Me and tug boat split to fish the creeks there and I caught 6 trout down there and hooked a few more but DOA hooks suck. Kayne and Chris got into a school of trout and they caught a bunch chris wound up with like 25 trout kayne with about 20, tug boat with 3 and I wound up with about 15. Then late in the afternoon the reds were moving I broke the ice with a 24" then tug boat lost a good one, then he finally landed a 26" with 4 spots. Chris got his shortly after kayne didn't have any luck with the reds. I used DOA shrimp, they were using gulp shrimp and a mix of paddle tail and mud minnows.

THE SAND GNATS ARE HORRIBLE OUT THERE.

Looks like you guys had a really nice day on the water. Fish were caught and fun seemed to be had by all.

It was really fun until the gnats destroyed us at the pier.

We were out there by the pier on the 31st, no sand gnats that day- the wind was howling. No kayaks either!

Family is in town and they wanted to go back today and do the beachcoming thing for the glass floats the Jekyl people hide this month and next. Much nicer day unless you got out of the breeze- the gnats were out in force! Obviously no fishing for me but knew you all were heading out from the pier, wishing I was fishing. On the other hand, Dad was about 3 feet ahead of me when he did find one of the hand blown glass floats so all was not lost.

Looks like a good trip, congrats. Nice looking fish on a great Georgia January day!

Nice catchin', gentlemen! You caught some nice fish and had about 1,000 bites or so - if you count the gnats... :rotf:
