Well still dont have a new yak yet so I went down to Kayak Amelia today and fished for 5 or 6 hours. It was one of those days. Throwin 3" Gulp Shrimp in the Molting pattern, I hooked 4 reds, 1 flounder and 3 fish I never saw. Out of all of those fish I managed to get zero fish in the yak. Fish were spitting my hook left and right. Even when I didnt see them, my hooks were coming back Gulp-less, or with half the Gulp hanging off the hook. I am used ot losing Gulp sometimes when you catch a fish, or having puffers/pins tear them up, but I have never had a day like I had today. Was really getting frustrated after all of this, when 3 jet skis came flying around the bend and just about ran into me. The creek we were all in had been my most productive bite on the day, but I knew better than to fish in 2 feet of water with that racket going on. Did some more exploring and finally got one fish in the boat. A decent jack about the size of a paddle blade. All in all a fun day on th water, thanks to everyone who told me about that area.

They were South, but I saw them again later so I am sure that they were going all over creation. Not even a wave or fake apology, just squeezed that throttle..

Jet skier is an outdated term. They are jetholes.

Jetholes...I LOVE it!! :D

JHM,

There is a phenomenon in these parts that you may not be familiar with, coming from up North...It's called the Inshore Lizardfish. The little snits are almost as bad as Jetholes at times, and RARELY do you hook one.

They knock the CRAP outta your lure, and are Gulp mangling/stealing professionals..Sometimes they are out in force, sometimes they are not around.

Here's his photo, and a bio...

RR - Definately have had my share of those little buggers, as well as all the other trashers around these parts. And on a normal day I probably would have assumed that was the problem. However, a few of the reds broke the water and i got good looks at them, as well as the flounder. Now I am sure that there were other times when it was a trash fish attacking me, but the fact that I saw a few of the fish was driving me absolutely crazy

Where you using a net? Or did you not get them close enough to matter?

Didnt have a net with me, nor do I normally use one. But they werent close enough anyways. Normally was able to horse them to the surface about 10 yards away before they dove and came off. Iv decided that I must have just been shortsetting the hook. Being in a "foreign" yak and getting adjusted to the balance of it is the only thing I can think of. Lesson learned
