Let me first say to all of you who sent my family flowers and condolences thinking I was dead thank you for the thoughtfulness, but I ain't dead. And next time send a monitary donation :D

After a long hiatus from the fishing world (life calls) I blew the dust off the gear, loaded up the yaks and me and my son Tyler were off.

We put in at Village Creek around 0630. Conditions were absolutely perfect. No wind, minimal bugs, and clear skies. I had a paticular spot in mind that is a long azz paddle but I had a good feeling about it so we set off.

We fished a little along the way and at about 0720 I scored with a decent flounder.

At around 0800 Tyler scored his first with this little rat.

I caught a couple more flounder along the way and Tyler got a trout. After a long paddle we reached our destination. At the beginning of the creek Tyler hooked this Red for his personal best yak Red to date.

Then a few bends later all Hell broke loose. As I eased up in the creek I spotted a half dozen Reds in the shallows on a shell bed. We staked out and prepared to engage in mortal combat. One after the other we hooked up. All of them looked about like this.

I totaled 13 from that one spot and Tyler got 6. The tide was picking up and the bite tappered off so we moved on. Just one bend later I told Tyler "this spot looks productive". I just got the words out and my mouth and BAM, Pole bent over and drag singing the fight was on. After about a 5 minute fight being drug all over the creek I manage to land this little guy.

I caught him with a Shimano Symetre 1000 I just added to the family loaded up with 15 lb. power pro and it proved it was up for the fight.

There were alot more reds at this spot but I ran 'em all out during the battle and those we could see that remained were to spooked to bite. We fished the area a little while longer but with the tide coming in and the current picking up the bite shut down. Back the the landing we went.

The total for the day was 21 Reds, 4 flouder and a trout. Having been off the water for so long it was a great time.

Way to go Billy! :thumbleft: That's the best catching of reds I've seen in VC. You didn't paddle just over four miles to the last creek on the left before you get to the mouth of VC at the Hampton River did you? :D
