Hot and windy all day! Not much biting except the usual trash like Big Lady, Cat and Pin fish. I wasn't giving up though even the ominous rain storm coming didn't scare me off in the latter afternoon. Glad it went North of me! :D
I figured you gotta wait it through until LOW TIDE. The wait was well rewarded with a 26" Red 6.5 pounds, caught on live shrimp. ~2:30-3PM.

At the Tip of the Jetty Rocks I picked up a 13" flattie.
No keeper trout for the day so I couldn't boast of my first slam YET.

I bruised my right elbow a few weeks ago and it hasn't worked well since. Hurts a lot when I try to lift things. This gal put a hurting on it today! She ran off from the net four times in the fight!

So Quake, did you smoke that Jack? I never saw any reason to keep them, but my uncle new a guy here in St. Augustine that smoked them, so I gave him a couple once. I tried some of it and it wasnt too bad, but I still prefer smoked mullet. I usually smoke a batch or two of mullet each fall and make a smoke fish dip with it.

I've heard from a few guys that jacks have worms in the flesh, so I have always stayed away from them... how did it taste?

Railroader and some of those other guys who do the big shark fishing use jacks and ladies and other trash fish as bait. Actually, he would probably appreciate it if some folks would keep some jacks and stuff for him because he is out of big shark baits.

Just kidding with the subject line Markbob.
It's always good to stock up on cut bait from the last trip out if you do use it. I've tried most of the suggestions on this site on what to use so far. Only two of them has proven to work well for me. I've yet to try several more of them. So many suggestions in here. I want to try the finger mullet one suggested to me once. But I don't because I suck at throwing a cast net and I also tear them up on oyster beads and rocks the first time I use them too. That's gotten to be a very expensive lesson for me. Not trying it out any more. But to each his own I say. Let time and experimental training give a person the rest of what they need to become a good Salt Water Fisherman.
But as a consumer of what I'm catching? With all the questions about the Jack so far, IT"S STILL FROZEN. Don't think I'm even going to try eatting it now. But using it as CUT BAIT? Hummmmm?
