I also saw this in the Kayak Angler that just came out. Its kinda pricey at $290.00 but still innovative.

Hmmm... looks like a takeoff from the Power Pole used on stinkpots. Probably work on a hard bottom better than mud.

When raised, you could use it as a flag pole :glory:

I'd think it would work on soft bottom even better than hard. Duck soup to make one for the old style Emoton Mojo. Possibly 20 minutes and no holes in the yak.

A stern mount would interfere with my rudder and a front mount would interefere with fish fighting and casting. What the heck, I'm gonna make one.

I didn't have a piece of PVC of 2X4 so I gotta raid with their permission) the scrap pile of a local fence installer.

Rather than the 2 piece anchor pole, I am going to use only one piece of an old solid glass fishing rod. The 2 piece rig would be just about as easy but this is a prototype.

I'm going to make a bow mount first because I'd hate to remove my rudder. Yeah, it is gonna be in the way but the rudder is mighty important. Maybe I can make a rig that will work in conjunction with the rudder.

Too many ideas this morning. I have drawings made up for a rocky bottom anchor, (maybe Mayport Jetty) Mud bottom anchor, Shocker for the rocky bottom anchor, a break away system, and an anchor line reel.

My computer is in the shop and this one drives me crazy.

I re-engineered my version a half dozen times during the building process. It works fine, at least on the trailer in my shed. It drops instantly and the haul line is super easy to operate. I haven't tried it with a strain on it yet but it shoudn't be much harder.

Right now I am waiting on some J-B Weld to dry. I covered the snell knot on the anchor pole with J-B to give it some protection against rock and shell. I'm using 400# test mono.

I still have to measure the haul line and rig 2 stops on it and add a cleat for it.

Materials: 2 pieces of 5/16" X 3" wide PVC Length to suit the boat. Mine are about 13" long.

8 -1" X #12 Pan head Machine Screws.
1 1/4"X20tpi bolt 3" long W/lock nut.
40" length of heavy solid glass fishing rod.
~8' of 400# test mono
1 leader sleeve for the mono.
1 small plastic cleat.

Photos tomorrow.
