Layer in material (Not Cotton) like poly pro, under armour, etc.. I like to use breathable waders. Cheapest ones at bass Pro have lasted me 3 years with the booties. I wear a larger size of flats boot over the booties. I wear long johns under the waders and layer the top so I can shed as the day gets warmer. Always wear a PFD with WADERS!

You won't sink with waders but it certainly would be difficult to lift yourself out onto your kayak with water filled waders :D

I wear a couple of layers ,short sleeve shirt then a long sleeve jacket over that then a pair of frog togs ,jacket and pants to stay dry. And of course Christian is always an extra layer that I can use

No those are not the waders. Breathable waders are the ticket cause they offer more freedom of movement.

Tdrott,
are the frog togs breathable?
I have been trying to find some of these; however, Bass Pro only has 2xl on line.
What type of shoes do you use for the cold?

layering is key...ploypro and/or fleece, wool works too but is heavy and typically uncomfortable, totally avoid cotton, or if u want to wear your colombia shirt for the pockets, just have ploypro under it, however think colombia has some new synthetic material fishing shirts

layering is nice, as can peel off or on as the day grows warm or cold, additionally i like somesort of light windbreaker/rain protection incase
gets windy or it rains

most important, don't fall in

i don't wear waders, but those boots jsurber recomended are cheap and good, i wear them in the summer for muck boots when castnetting or wading (crocs are def.no good for wading/netting in the muck, trust me  ), and in the winter they keep my feet nice and toasty, even when wet

although maybe a bit extreme, subject to the distance from the truck u are paddling and how remote of an area, or how close to nightfall u plan to fish and what the low temps are predicted for that day, a cheap/small fold up space-survival blankets, a few disposable handwarmers, and waterproof matches are not a bad idea to throw in the hull, just incase, wet in the daylight is ok, u will dry, wet and standed at night would suck
and could get deadly if temp's drop below 55

Today was cloudy and windy with the fog moving end at the end of the day. I wore my gortex fishing jacket, nylon fishing shirt underneath and a pair of nylon quick dry pants. Boots were the above by Jsuber....

If it had been any cooler/colder would have put on my rainpants or even my gortex waders.

Breathable waders over jeans. T-shirt, sweater, windbreaker on top.

I cringe when I see someone fishing in jeans. If they get wet they stay wet and cold and heavy. I just wear polypro or underarmour longjohns.

Absolutely wear some of the hi-tech stuff under waders. I find some nice deals at the Army Navy Surplus in the area. Military versions of the hi-tech stuff. Much cheaper. Not the "name brand" fashion statement but under waders it doesn't matter much. Also wear it under my dry suit.

Hadn't thought of that, but then I've never gotten them wet (yet). You're probably right. Hmmm...something else for the Xmas list...

It's more out of concern for efficency after I'm done fishing - I can just strip off the waders and drive home.

I pretty much do the same thing with the fleece/poly stuff I wear. Gonna be in the car, not a big deal. That is if I'm close. Otherwise I have a pair of pants in the truck to put on over the poly stuff.
