Re: Pa 12 vs boat

I've had my share of boats over the years and here's my two cents worth. I keep a kayak because I like to go places where an outboard can't go, BUT it's not my primary fishing boat. I have a Custom Gheenoe NMZ (15'4") and while it's much more stable than a kayak, it's nowhere near as comfortable as ...

If they're not starved out by now, then they're probably there to stay. That article is 11 years old.

Re: 10ib vs 15ib braid

Just to satisfy yourself, tie your 10 lb braid to your car bumper or a tree, then walk backward with your fishing rod and try to break it. I feel pretty safe that I'm not going to lose anything I hook inshore because the line broke. More than likely it will be because I tied a crappy knot.

That has to be a setup. Unless that's his first time in a boat, he would already be dead. Nobody is that bad

Re: Kayak Warranty - Jackson Coosa

I had the exact same problem with a Heritage Redfish. After a bit of haggling and a meeting with the rep, they determined that I had not abused the boat otherwise and gave me a new boat.

Re: New to Florida fishing and Kayak ignorant...

Your question is pretty general - sort of like asking someone on the internet to tell you how to drive a car. Do a bit of research on here (there is a wealth of knowledge) and come back with some specific questions regarding gear or techniques. I bet you will get plenty of responses.

Re: Bug shirt for noseeums?

I generally go out with long pants and long sleeves, hat and buff and some spray-on bug juice for exposed skin and clothing if necessary. I also stuff a mesh bug suit in a zip lock. You never know when something might happen and you'll have to spend the night.

Re: Scary Moment on the St. Johns

The safest way to anchor a kayak in the current is to run the anchor line through a lead at either the bow or the stern. Then control your anchor line from a cleat in the cockpit. If you anchor in a current with the anchor lead back from the nose of the boat, or on the side of the boat, then you are...

I'm always amazed at the comments to any kind of post. It's a story about fishing and all the experts want to debate storm drains, storm sewers, etc. DOH!!!

Re: Evolution of the Kayak:Random Thoughts

Kayaks have gone the way of the automobile. A manufacturer introduces a cool idea and in a few years it becomes a bloated, accessory laded, overweight monster. The evolution of the original Ford Mustang is a perfect example. However, you can use the trends to your advantage if you think it out. I ha...

Re: Better Fishing Kayak: Hobie Revo 13 or Tarpon 160

Depends on where you fish. Most of my fish are caught in less than a foot of water so I wouldn't have a pedal drive. Plus, I don't want the extra weight or clutter in the cockpit. I have owned 2 T160's and I routinely stood in both of them to paddle and fly cast. A typical day of fishing for me was ...

Re: Tide Question

Whichever inlet has the strongest influence determines which way the tide flows, and that can actually change during the tide cycle. Simply put, Palm Valley is closer to St Augustine inlet, so the outgoing tide flows south.

In addition to the article I'll add my .02. Holding a fish with a gripper kills the fish and the photo. Hold the fish, nobody wants to see a picture of your gripper ;-) Do it this way http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e357/WhiskeyHotel/BigReds1.jpg Not this way http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e357...
