Re: Kayakfishing Vacation Spots

Stay at the "Old Wooden Bridge" fish camp on Big Pine Island, Florida Keys. There's a kayak guide business run out of the fish camp by crazy Bill Keogh, also author of a guide book "The Florida Keys Paddling Guide". He does some mothership guided trips and has probably at least 100 kayaks for rent t...

Cool catch at guana. Maybe he "flooded in" a few weeks ago?

Re: Sometimes You Gotta Do What You Gotta Do

As a fellow solo skiff owner.... I'll take a shot at some of these What h.p. is your outboard? What range of h.p. can be (safely) used on a SoloSkiff? I run a 3.5, manufacture says up to a 5 hp. It should be noted that the small 4-6hp range motors are all the same, just different carb/tuning. So wit...

Re: Bank Fishing for Reds/Specks.

Pumpkin Hill Creek State Park has a dock, but you have to get there early, as more than 3 fishermen make it crowded.

However there is also a small "beach" kayak launch area to the south that's fish-able

Re: UNF Suprise

There's an overpass/bridge on JTB right at the south end of the UNF property. You wouldn't know by driving over it, as its at grade. I took a hike through the preserve area of UNF with some other naturalists and was told this was to provide for a wildlife corridor between the UNF preserve areas and ...

Re: New launching spot

If you want a VERY GOOD example of a very poorly developed kayak/canoe launch area, check out "Castaway Island" in Jax on Pablo Road, and developed and run by the City of Jax....COJ. The park is very nice, but the launch area is almost useless except for a very short "window" before and after High ...

Re: ROTO SOLO

The outboards you use on those are so small and light weight that it's not a big deal to put it on and off. I do it on my kayak with ease with a 2hp that I use on occasion. I wouldn't see any more problem storing these than a plastic kayak. I wouldn't want to leave it on a trailer in direct sunligh...

Re: ROTO SOLO

so these rotomolded boats are going to start popping up, I checked the website out, and read the PDF owners manual.... Having never owned a plastic kayak (mines glass on wood), I've been warned that the plastic ones can warp if not stored properly, or loaded on a car rack wrong. Is that a concern wi...

Slideshow 2 says it was suspended because it violated terms of service.

Any chance you could re-post it?

Mirrolure 17MR does real well while trolling.

Cajun thunder deadly combo popping cork (these have a DOA shrimp on a cigar shaped cork)

While curly tail gulps, some 1/8oz jig heads

That's my guana load out

Re: We only caught three

I wonder how my HOA would feel about me catching (and releasing) the "algae maintenance" carp in our retention ponds...? Haha. I've yet to try it. As an employee of the company that probably maintains your pond...... Please don't. The carp are a biological control agent for aquatic plants (not alga...
