Re: Wakulla Beach Florida Trip 7-8-2017
Isn't Wakulla Beach a "far cry" from Jacksonville, FL? I've been inshore saltwater yak angling for more than a few years...how does a catfish "bolt" out of the water and into a kayak? Let's just say I wasn't lifting it up out of the water to grab the end of the line. I remember it pulling hard on t...

Wakulla Beach Florida Trip 7-8-2017
Had a great time at Wakulla Beach, Florida yesterday with Kevin Kelly and Glenn Church. Kevin attending was a spur of the moment drive from Savannah, GA to join us. Glenn had just purchased his new Pro Angler and it had never been in the water. So instructions on how to use it were in order as well ...

Re: Seeking Jax Area Kayak Fishing Advice
Slamseeker, I would browse the fishing spots and the fishing reports. If you're headed to Jax, the creeks on the north side are all popular. The tidal swings will be a little more prominent on the Atlantic side and the winds will be generally stronger. I fish the Jax area about once every 6 months. ...

Re: Power Pole Micro Pole-Worth it?
About 15-16 pounds total including the spike. The basic unit is 11.5 pounds with the bracket. The Hobie mounting plate is maybe a half pound but it is durable. The battery pack (not required if you use a 12 volt battery and the supplied cabling) is probably a pound. The spike is about 3 pounds rough...

Re: Power Pole Micro Pole-Worth it?
Getting ready to purchase a Pro Angler 14 from Black Creek, and I'm on the fence about the Micro Power pole versus a stick-it pole-Any opinions from those of you who have one/ Any regrets? I looked at the website, and can't seem to get any info as to whether the pole itself is detachable from the m...

John,
if you have access to Facebook, look up Yak Tribe forum. It's run by my good friend Heath that started Yak Tribe. You will get tons of help if you post on that forum. Great group of folks. Heath is from the Sarasota/Tampa area as well.

Crystal River Trip This Week
My son Chris was off between college semesters in Atlanta, so he came down and we went to Crystal River Wednesday and Thursday. On Wednesday we fished the Ozello area. The bite was slow and the winds were brisk, but the islands in the Ozello area provided some relief from the wind. I hooked a huge s...
