Re: Paddle questions
For what it's worth, I started out with a cheap paddle when I bought my Tarpon 120 last year. A few months ago I settled on a Werner Skagit CF. Bought all of it from BCO, and what the guys said above is spot on. I'd like to add one more piece of advice: surf the Werner website. They have a lot of go...

Re: New Classic catagory?
I've been kayak fishing less than a year, and this was my first Classic. I caught a single flounder, and was pleased I didn't get skunked. So I'm your basic rank noob offering my $0.02: @ Jud, Jessica, Craig, and everyone else who worked and donated stuff: Thanks for making my first tournament a fun...

Re: Want to try something new
So basically anything connected the to st johns is contaminated in some way. Never stopped me before and wont stop me now Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk It doesn't stop me either, although I try to moderate the amount of fish I eat that's higher up on the food chain (like ahi tuna). I think m...

Re: Want to try something new
That article was a little old... for those who might be interested, here is some more current information: http://www.dep.state.fl.us/water/watersheds/assessment/adopted_gp2-c3.htm Clicking the link for the Lower St. Johns will bring up a list of the creeks most of us are interested in. For the most...

Re: New to kayaking
Welcome to the sport! I think you're being smart by recognizing that you have some limitations. That alone will help you stay out of trouble. I don't think your kids are to young to learn paddling if you stick to protected waters. There are some people here who take their kids fishing who could give...

Re: what takes classic?
Just so you know ...those beers are for after we get off the water ;) I typed that with my tongue planted firmly in my cheek, just tryin' to be funny. :D Though I expect I'll have a cold one or two Saturday evening, I try to stay safe on the water. I won't be out in the river because I don't consid...

This will be my first tournament...so I'm looking for pointers. I wasn't planning on bringing my cooler, but you've got me re-thinking my strategy for the tournament. Thanks!!!HoosierPaddler wrote:<snip>...on tourney day I will pack a couple of beers and a nice cigar and go out and fish...

Re: May 1st New bag Limit?
I thought the single hook rule referred to the rig rather than the hook itself. Growing up in SC I used to fish bait on a double drop rig that had a weight at the bottom and two leaders coming off the rig at different heights, each with it's own baited hook. So the double drop rig wouldn't be legal,...

Re: Red Size for Classic
Perhaps Jud, Jess, & Craig could put together a survey for this year's tournament where all those in attendance can "weigh in" their thoughts for future tournaments. Do it the democratic way, where the majority decides? Though putting it to a survey/vote might sound good, there's a risk that you'd ...

Thoroughly enjoyed the happy hour, I met some really good people. If you were there, and we met, count yourself among the Good People I met. Yes, Mudcat, that includes you. Thanks for posting this to the forum!

Re: Ponds at my house | Small mouth bass and a big miss on c
Smallmouth, Large mouth...were they fun to catch? If yes, then good! And good on ya!
I grew up fishing for bass, bluegills, and occasionally crappie in ponds and small lakes in South Carolina. Fun fishing!

Re: Palm Valley 4/4, wifes first keeper red
Sounds like a great day! I haven't caught any reds lately...might have to try Palm Valley. I still havent decided if her deciding she wants to fish is a blessing or curse...lol.. Is "yes" an available answer? I'll be taking my girlfriend out soon (just paddling, not fishing). We'll see how she likes...
