Re: Murphy's Law

My kayak is stored in the garage - keeping it out of the weather and sun. I was painting a lot of pieces for our patio table. I had a box fan in the garage (turned off) to circulate air after painting. Got done painting and turned on the box fan. The air blew the paint fumes (and paint mist) out ---...

Re: Florida yak private message

Yep. I have a 'Delete' key and know how to use it. I read it and honestly my reaction was 'are you serious?'.................. Hope he reads these comments. I get enough crap in my email and on the house phone without having to deal with unsolicited advertising and baiting (no pun folks) here in an ...

Re: ANYONE FISHING FRIDAY

I'm going to hit Oak harbor or Sisters Creek tomorrow late morning - early afternoon to catch the low-tide. I'm open to checking out areas 'new' to me. Let me know if my people need to contact your people to take care of the details!! :)

Drop me a PM if you're so inclined.

Re: New member first time kayak owner!

I think you'll find your fish finder will see more use as a depth finder / GPS unit than a fish finder. I've got a Lowrance Elite 4 Chirp and I've never had an opportunity to use the 'fish finder' functions. It's depth finder has helped me find pockets and sand bars (usually after I'm using my paddl...

Re: A few rookie question

Ditto to everything said here so far - I'll add some of my discoveries since I've only been kayak fishing for little over a year. 1. Loading / Unloading - I have a Propel 14 (13.5??) with a T-Bone Bed Extender. Unless I strip the Propel down and lighten it up, I have a hell of a time loading that ka...

Re: Ozark Cooler Bag
huh?? I have a 19 quart and I can stuff 2 fat reds and ice in there? You must carry a lot more food and drink than I do
8 lbs of ice and two 16 oz bottles of water. A 27" red will go in if I bend him / curl him. Turned one loose off the fish grip once and he started f...

Re: Ozark Cooler Bag

I'm off to Walmart. My 30QT Engle dry box is great for a day of food & drink and the rod holders are awesome BUT I can't stuff a 27" Redfish in it. Looks like I'll have one of these in back of the Engle - just in case I catch SOMETHING!!! Hahaha

Re: Kayak Purchase Advice

Thanks again for all of the advice! I met Alex up at BCO and Clark gave his PA the once over. I wound up purchasing it and leaving the boat w/ BCO to have a couple things taken care of but am happy with the purchase and looking forward to getting out on the water, hopefully next weekend! Glad to he...

Re: New Kayak Recommendation

Your 1,2,4,& 6 most likely will work against #3 - weight. A trailer might be a good idea if you're serious about a SOT with mechanical drive that you can stand up in (safely). A folding trailer from Northern Tools (Harbor Freight) can be purchased inexpensively (relatively) and modified for kayak us...

Re: Back Pain Poll

Time sitting - NO.................. but when I get back to the shore / ramp, I have a problem moving around until I get 'warmed up / loosened up'. My back is trashed basically, but with continued stretching and core exercises, I manage to keep moving (slowly and awkwardly). I'm using a Native '1st c...

The Roman's had a great saying about training and battle. "Our training is but bloodless battles, and our battles merely bloody training." Understanding your weak spots is a good point to start from HOWEVER, if you're inexperienced, you may not know what you don't know. Yeah, read that again if you ...

Re: Are Side Imaging Fish Finders Useful In Shallow Water?

I bought a Lorance Elite 4+ Chirp with the HD sonar / fish finder. I never use it. I use my unit primarily for the GPS and 'route tracking' where I put waypoints down for good fishing holes. I'll use the depthfinder / charting to look for pockets and holes to fish. I THINK I've heard it 'chirp' befo...

Re: Kayak Purchase Advice

Disclaimer - I have a 2015 Native Propel 13.5 and love it. I looked at the Pro Angler at Black Creek Outfitter (BCO) and it was a toss up between the two. I went with the Native Propel for two major reasons: 1. I can back up in the Propel very quickly. The PA, you have to lift the drive unit out and...
