Re: Hospital creek St Augustine

I spent Sunday evening walking around the wall of A1a (lions bridge) with my daughters and something was slamming the hell out of the mullet. I assume it was jacks as i heard the jacks run thick there but man what a sight. Non stop action (wish i had a rod)

Re: Moving to Florida

don't waste your time fishing palatka. Take a 40-1h drive to St Augustine or Pam coast and fish for reds, trout and flounder. Go a little lower and you can catch some snook when its warmer.

Re: Hobie Pro Angler 12 or 14?

had the pa14 and hated it. Slow and heavy would not move in a fast current. If choice between the two I would go for the 12. If other options are on the table, get the outback. It's fast, stable and has room.

Re: New to kayak fishing

Don't limit your search to just Jax, I always look Tri state. Florida, GA and Bama. Spend one day driving to enjoy a yak for years is a good tradeoff. Also, Hobies with cracks are a decent buy as we have a Kayak doctor that can weld up almost anything for you.

Re: Looking for help choosing my first kayak.

I have not tried any of the ones you mentioned but I have had my eye on the Hobie i11 and i12. Being your size I would recommend the i12. The peddles make fishing sooooo much easier. I have owned several Hobies and love them. I now have an Outback and a Revo. I fish alot of saltwater & freshwater. ...

Re: Increasing Fleet

you don't need a fire extinguisher on a 12ft boat unless you have an enclosed tank somewhere under a deck. a throwable, a pfd, whistle and lights in the dark is all you need. Not counting a valid registration and a fishing license.

Re: Need Rod & Reel Recommendations

Ohh and I also bought the Shimano Nexave on Black Friday at Academy. Seems to be some sort of European model for Shimano. Works good & smooth, salt has so far been a non issue.

Re: Need Rod & Reel Recommendations

For that style of fishing, I'd go with a 2500 Shimano Sienna paired with a 7'6 medium or medium heavy rod. Hurricane Red Bone or St. Croix Triumph are what I use. That combo will get you right around $130. If you decide to upgrade the reel, both of the rods will go fine with a nicer reel. I fish wi...
