I'm not familiar with the area much but to search for a land I'd use Zillow https://www.zillow.com/homes/Green-Cove-Springs,-FL_rb/
and for the elevation to make sure it's dry US Geo Survey Map https://viewer.nationalmap.gov/advanced-viewer. The area up north closer to Black Creek is good for fishing.

Re: Castaway Island Preserve
If you have a kayak, it's a decent place to go. It's very shallow on low tide.

From Oak Harbor boat ramp, Tide Views Preserve (not on low tide) https://goo.gl/maps/YAzMgfnK2ZA2 or from Atlantic Blvd Bridge.

Re: Oak Harbor
You're on the right spot. I fish that area frequently and catch reds, trout, and flounders.
In the summer is tougher, but still manageable first two hours after sunrise, and with good tide.
Muds, shrimp and mullets work great.

Re: Need Rod & Reel Recommendations
I'd use this setup:
Reel: Shimano Sedona SEC3000FE
Line: PowerPro 15 lb (300 yds for two reels)
Leader: Seaguar Blue Label 25 lb 100 yds
Rod: St Croix Triumph or Hurricane Redbone
Or you take a Penn Battlle II 2500 combo on Amazon for $115.

Re: Interesting Fishing Tactics
Interesting indeed. Sad really. But what's really interesting to me is how they close the article with "even for Florida" (then it gets profane) I'd love to know where the author is from. They don't strike me as a well traveled person that knows what our state really has to offer. Don't bag on my s...

Re: The Ultraskiff 360 Watercraft
Yeah that's what I taught too. The top looks great but steering it could be an issue, especially when windy. But if you're on the Gulf side like Cedar Key it could be fun.
