Re: porn trolls on this site removal

Well, all the rubbish stuff has been removed. Our "super-admin" got in and did the necessary. He's also tightened up the new user registration process so hopefully that will improve things. Might be a bit of hangover from "users" (I use the term loosely :?) already registered but we can get rid of t...

Re: porn trolls on this site removal

I've been banning and deleting a lot of them but, frankly, it's overwhelming at the moment. I've tried contacting the guy who looks after the technical side of the site, who is based in CA, but not had a response. It's mostly the Off Topic forum which is being hammered. I've managed to keep on top o...

Re: Limited fishing down under

Were the eels at Wanaka? Yes and few big rainbows in between. But Twizel is where all the monsters are . Some guys showed me pics of 30 lbs rainbows Yep, stood on the end of that dock myself! I think the Twizel canals are probably an acquired taste - too heavy duty for me! Pity you went there at th...

Re: DIY New Zealand

I’m going in May if you have any pointers please share. Well, the Twizel canal trout are certainly big but I think it is heavily fished. If you're going in May be aware that not all waters will be open! I think the canals are OK but plenty of rivers are closed. I'd have recommended the Ahuriri sout...

Yes, and we even stayed a night in Twizel, but the weather was pretty awful at the time.

Snowy Trout

This is the last part of my fishing adventures during my recent trip to Australia and New Zealand. This time it was a 3 day session in the Snowy-Monaro region of Australia with my friends Peter and Brenda Batho, staying at Bidgee Lodge, a cabin owned by the Cooma Acclimatization Society. The lodge w...

DIY New Zealand

Following on from my first fishing session during my recent vacation, in Australia, it was now time for New Zealand, and to catch an NZ trout. I just used my 6wt rod as the fish there are mainly of a good size and the rivers can be big and strong. I had my eye on a few locations before I arrived. Sa...

Goodradigbee Revisited

Those who follow me on Facebook will know I have just returned from a 6 week vacation in Australia and New Zealand, spending the time with my son who lives in Australia. Fishing trip? No, sightseeing but I *did* have some fishing gear with me. The plan was to snatch opportunities to fish as and when...

Re: Suggestions for fly fishing mats/whatever might work

It doesn't even have to be a large towel, just as long as it's big enough to cover the area where the line would land. That's the simplest solution, obviously what JYJ said would apply if you want to enhance the fly fishing experience even more.

Re: New to the Kayak stuff

Try Clapboard Creek. Plenty of parking, easy to launch, not far to paddle to good fishing. You can paddle up and to the right or go left into Little Clapboard and over towards Browns. Look at Google Maps Satellite View to see the maze of creeks there are to explore. Best to fly fish either side of l...
