Re: Guana Reds and Trout

The lake will only be open to fishing from the dam once duck season starts mid November. Bigger reds have been schooled up on the south end of the lake.

Re: Looking for 1st doormat Flounder

Usually oak harbor is a good bet this time of year but it’s been very slow for me and I live in the neighborhood. Too many people gigging it these days makes it hard for us hook and line guys. There’s a couple gig boats between oak harbor and chicopit every night now.

Re: Flood tide fishing

We’ve been catching some but it’s been a spotty year so far lots of marginal floods and most of the good tides have been after dark. Next month should be better.

Re: Backs of Creeks?

We scallop steinhatchee last weekend couldn’t see your hand in front of your face the vis was so bad, got about 50 all day with 4 experienced people. It’s hard when you have to get you mask 10” from the scallop to get one. I’ve been at least once a year for the last 10 years and that was the worst I...

Re: Oak Harbor

I live in oak harbor the bite is tough right now, you can go into the creeks on the other side but not past that structure your seeing on the map it’s a lock for the queens harbor lagoon.

Re: guana fish kill

Between all the rain and the flood tides there’s only so much they can do, when they first pumped out the pit on the lake side and put the temp structure in place they did relocate all the fish. Every flood though pushes water in from the river side and they had to pump it all out. It was a few hund...

Re: guana fish kill

It was all croakers that had been stuck under the dam during the repairs, when the flood tide pushed water through the dam they got pushed into the lake side. Fished that day and the reds were still chewing.

Re: Lost my gear when I capsized. Trying to locate any of it

I’ve lost gear in same situation, ended up snagging most of the rods and getting them back, basically used a ribbonfish rig with 3 big treble hooks spaced about 6 inches apart and a pyramid sinker on the end to drag the bottom around where I flipped.

Re: Kayak Fishing off Neptune Beach

Fishing off the beach and we push out to the nearshore wrecks I’ve got a 19ft Panga. If your targeting kings you’ve gotta have the drag very light, strike I have it around 3lbs and then I’ll go up to 5lb when fighting the fish after the first couple runs. They can swim 50+mph so very easy to pull ho...

Re: Kayak Fishing off Neptune Beach

Get some 40lb 7 strand wire at strike zone, snell the hooks on and use a figure 8 knot for the swivel connection. If you get broken off 99% of the time it’s a big shark. Good thing about 7 strand is flexible compared to straight wire and won’t kink after every fish. We’ve caught many limits of kingf...

Re: Kayak Fishing off Neptune Beach

I’ve been fishing out of Ponte Vedra for a couple of weeks now. I fish mostly during the week and am super addicted to it. The kings are thick, but I keep getting broken off. Also, jumped a trap on last week. I’d love someone to join me. Gotta use 40lb wire stinger rigs and about 3-4lbs of drag pre...
